Dragon Quest: Your Story Uploads First Trailer

Dragon Quest: Your Story | Too Far Gone

An adaptation almost 30 years in the making.

Originally announced earlier this year back in February, Dragon Quest: Your Story now has an official trailer. Due out August 2 in Japan, the film’s story is to be based on the plot of Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.

A visual departure from the iconic style of Akira Toriyama, Director Takashi Yamazaki (Parasyte, Stand By Me Doraemon) hopes that the 3DCG film will nonetheless function as an ideal live-action work (loosely translated), with an understanding of the passion that fans will have for the IP and its adaptation to the big screen. Rounding out the cast list, the lead role of the protagonist is set to be Takeru Satoh—more often billed for his live-action work and likely recognizable for his role as Kenshin Himura in the three part Rurouni Kenshin movie series.

Originally released back in 1992, Dragon Quest V was later re-released for the PS2 and Nintendo DS in 2004 and 2008 respectively. We’ve embedded the movie’s new trailer for you below, but if you’d like to check out comments from the cast and staff you can peruse those paragraphs for yourself right here.
