Earlier this afternoon Cliff Bleszinski tweeted out that Boss Key Productions would be closing its doors for good. Known for the illustrious Gear of War franchise, Bleszinski’s studio released Lawbreakers and quickly followed up with Radical Heights—neither of the two games were particularly well received or embraced by the online shooter community.
“Lawbreakers was a great game that unfortunately failed to gain traction,” Bleszinki writes, “in a last ditch attempt we scrambled to do our take on the huge battle royale genre with Radical Heights which was well received, however, it was too little too late.”
With Lawbreakers not coming anywhere near close to fulfilling expectations, and the launch of Radial Heights perceived as a “cash-in” by many, it looks as though the compounding failures were simply too much for the studio to handle. Nevertheless, this likely won’t be the last we see of Cliffy B, who has decided to take some time and focus on his family life; his official statement regarding the studio’s closure was met with a resounding show of support for the veteran developer.
Bleszinski also took a line to note that the servers supporting Radical Heights will remain online for the time being—so if you were curious about what the title had to offer, or you just need a break from Fortnite, get your fix while you still can.
