As one project ends, so another one begins. News coming out of the Digital World, while seeming bittersweet at first, brings with it something new to look forward to. On May 5 the final movie in the Digimon Adventure tri. series premiered in Japan bringing an end to this chapter in the much beloved Digimon franchise. Fans, thankfully, do not have to wait for the Blu-ray to come out to enjoy it in the West. As with the previous releases in the series, Digimon Adventure tri Movie 6: Our Future begins streaming on Crunchyroll the same day as the Japanese theatrical release.

The plot of the Digimon Adventure tri. series follows the original DigiDestined three years after the defeat of MaloMyotismon in Digimon Adventure 02. Now in high school, while still remaining friends after their many adventures, the group finds it hard to reunite as a whole. That is until infected Digimon begin to rampage in the real world. Now Tai and the rest of the DigiDestined must reunite to stop the destructive peril of this new threat.

On May 4, just a day before Our Future was to premiere, a tweet was sent out by the official Digimon Adventure tri. Twitter account. It reads that the adventure will continue to evolve, and that a new project has begun. With this tweet came a picture of Agumon, the Digimon of the series’ main protagonist Taichi “Tai” Kamiya. While news on this new project is very sparse, it is a sign that fans of Digimon will have something to look forward to in the future.
