Sometimes the best collaborations are the ones that you didn’t see coming. While we’ve all seen the Avengers: Infinity War meme, “Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover event in history,” the new crossover project in the works between Kaomoji and Team Salvato is something very exciting for the Doki Doki Literature Club fandom. Kaomoji, a Dutch clothing brand established in 2015 whose sense of style is inspired by Japanese street fashion and their love of anime culture, will be bringing your favourite characters to the clothing world. In collaboration with Team Salvato, the developers behind the newest visual novel superstar, Doki Doki Literature Club, Kaomoji will be designing four shirts for the game’s four main female characters. Two shirts have already been previewed on Kaomoji’s twitter, the first for Yuri, and the second for Natsuki.
Doki Doki Literature Club is a visual novel which follows a male high school student who, under pressure from his friend, joins the school’s Literature Club and becomes the fifth member alongside four girls: Yuri, Natsuki, Monica, and Sayori. At first the game’s plot seems to be a common enough visual-novel-dating-simulator, however it soon begins to dawn on the player that it is actually a psychological horror game with lasting consequences. Doki Doki Literature Club has become a cult hit since its release in September of 2017, receiving a lot of praise in the YouTube Let’s Play and Twitch streaming communities.
The shirts for the Kaomoji x Team Salvato collaboration will be available on 5 May 2018 on Kaomoji’s web store.
