Super Mario Odyssey Worldwide Launch

Super Mario Odyssey | Too Far Gone

Hold onto your hats and get ready for an adventure, Mario’s newest 3D title is just around the corner. It’s been a busy year for Nintendo, not only did the illustrious company launch their seventh major home gaming console but they’ve also released a handful of new first party titles such as: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2 and Arms. Scheduled to keep the momentum going, Nintendo is ready to release their latest instalment in the Super Mario series with Super Mario Odyssey.

Nearly four years since we’ve seen an original 3D Mario title, and even longer since Nintendo put their favourite mascot inside of an open concept sandbox. It’s exciting to see Odyssey returning to its roots, deriving genetic inspiration from previous titles such as Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. The newest addition to the Mario universe will be the inclusion of his new companion “Cappy,” a hat from the Cap Kingdom eager to rescue his sister “Tiara” from Bowser’s clutches. Cappy gives Mario the power to “capture” both living and inanimate things, and has been advertised as being Odyssey‘s chief gameplay mechanic. Together Mario and Cappy will explore over fifteen different kingdoms in hopes of preventing Bowser from marrying Princess Peach (because kidnapping just wasn’t enough).

The Odyssey theme, Jump Up, Super Star!, is performed by The Super Mario Players and sung by Kate Higgins.

Super Mario Odyssey is releasing for the Nintendo Switch tomorrow on October 27 and will retail for $59.99 USD. On that same day a new Switch bundle will also become available which includes the game along with two red joy cons and an exclusive, Odyssey-styled carrying case. The bundle will retail for $379.99 USD.
